curtains, please.

speechless.

this is the entry door of a diamond merchant’s home in Surat, India, designed by Matharoo Associates. according to various sources, it’s made of 40 sections of 10-inch thick Burmese teak stacked to form an impressive and imposing 17-foot high, 5.5 foot wide “curtain door“, while 160 pulleys, 80 ball-bearings, a wire rope and a hidden counter-weight on a single pivot bring it to life. although there are some concerns over the use of teak (many fear the wood is becoming endangered), there’s no denying this door is an artistic and engineering beauty…
