the weekender…

my weekender was a gift from my parents on a trip to italy, and ever since, it’s been my favorite piece of luggage. i don’t believe in checking bags [on a flight]…

after some research and thought, i decided having my initials laser engraved might be a better bet than having them printed or plain/foil stamped. the leather had already been treated, and was softening and getting a patina from my having used it, and i was afraid any other method wouldn’t last. only time will tell!

just received the larger stamped disc charm in the mail today…

ordered this charm from JLynn Creations – i added it to a sterling diamond charm necklace i already had, and, voila!

Asbury-Hall Wedding

this past weekend, i was proud and honored to be able to serve as the maid of honor at my best friend kat‘s wedding.

we’ve known each other since 1st grade and have been close friends since middle school – i’ve also grown very fond of her now-husband, wyatte, and am so happy for them both. i wish i could have gotten as many photos as i usually do, but thankfully, they had a much more qualified professional photographer on hand! i can’t say it would have been worth trading being able to really immerse myself in the day – from helping matron of honor joy get kat ready, scrambling to put out the expected little fires, making new and seeing old friends and signing as the happy couple’s witness on their marriage certificate. (oh, and also that part where i blubbered tearfully through my speech…)

the ingenious dior joaillerie designer celebrates her 10-year anniversary at christian dior with 20 unbelievably fabulous pieces in pendants for men and rings for women. see below, and be awed.

silver lining.

quite literally.

a bit of time was set aside today to be spent with mandy & jimmy. after a quick lunch with jimmy at empire cafe, mandy met up with us, and we window shopped along westheimer & kirby. happily, we all came away with something – mandy nabbed a lovely pair of cream and white vintage nine west loafers, jimmy found two vintage ties, a silk christian dior, the other an yves saint laurent. me? i got my hands on an amazing silver reindeer suede and silk-lined skirt suit set by donna karan. which reminds me… i haven’t done a “recent purchase post” in some time. a few days ago, i finally managed to find a suitable leopard print to add to my closet – a vintage silk maggie london wrap dress. additional recent purchases: (L-R) sterling & garnet scatter cocktail ring, vintage sterling plaque bracelet printed with the word “risk”, 10k white gold and natural diamond aquarius pendant necklace, and 10k yellow gold and natural emerald and ruby strawberry pendant, an early christmas gift from my parents.
